Attendance officer Empty Attendance officer

Post by Bookworm Thu Oct 11, 2012 10:16 pm

I am interested in becoming an attendance officer but can't seem to find what I need to do training wise. We have an attendance officer at school (obviously) so don't want to step on anyones toes! Is anyone here an attendance officer alongside their teaching support role?

I'm reponsible for behaviour and attendance. I recommend the Specialist Leaders of Behaviour and Attendance course. It is a certified course and can count as points towards your masters too.

Our attendance officer seems to spend an awful lot of time on the phone listening to all sorts of excuses as to why children are late or need to have to go on holiday two weeks before the end of term. Very hard job.

Hi bookworm. The NPSLBA is the qualification that's recoginised in our area; if you google it, you will find out all about it. It definitely used to be fully funded, but who knows now??? Good luck x

Thanks for all the info, I will look into it.
Just fancy going in a new direction as I don't want to become a teacher.
Yes I think it is a hard job, only today I heard our attendance officer getting a mouthful from a parent Sad
